ASSISTANT INTERNAL AUDITOR

SUMMARY: 
The position has the authority to audit all functions within Lafarge Cement Malawi to ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of company operations, reliability of financial reporting, deterring and investigating fraud, safeguarding company assets, compliance with relevant laws and regulations. 
 
OBJECTIVE: 
To assist management in reducing the risks that may impair the achievement of Lafarge Cement Malawi corporate objectives and improving the efficiency and effectiveness of all functional operations. 
 
RESPONSIBILITIES: 
√Analyze and evaluate accounting and operational documentation against Lafarge Holcim Group Internal Control Standards, procedures, policies, regulatory requirements and report on the level of conformance 
√Review the standard operating procedures and collaborate with the Business Process Owners to improve process narratives to meet process objective 
√Identify control gaps and recommend risk aversion measures and cost savings 
√Coordinate investigations of suspected improprieties in a confidential and professional manner 
√Discuss audit observations, risk assessments, recommendations and corrective actions with Mega process Owners and draft audit report for Internal Audit Manager 
√Examine information systems to ensure accuracy and sound controls over transactions and reports 
√Champion the LH Group compliance culture ie Code of Business Conduct, Anti bribery and corruption programs, Conflict of Interest declaration 
√Conduct follow up audits to monitor management’s interventions 
√Perform other relevant duties as may be assigned by the Internal Audit Manager. 
 
REQUIREMENTS: 
√Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting / Finance or internal Auditing from a well-recognized institution and ACCA/ICAM/CIA or studying towards completion of certified Internal Auditor. 
 
 
EXPERIENCE: 
 
√At least three years’ work experience, preferably gained in a busy corporate environment 
√Analytic ability and application of numerical skills 
√Good communication skills both writing and oral 
√Good interpersonal skills 
√Sound independent judgment 
√Ability to manipulate large amounts of data and to compile detailed reports.
