Although each job sector has its own expectations and requirements, experts suggest that there are some basic fundamental rules for writing a CV: what to include and what not to include. Primarily, your CV should, at all times, be neat and typed, with a clear and organised layout, and free from grammar and spelling errors. Most public places have computers which you can use at a fee or for free if it is a free service centre. Additionally, make sure your CV is succint, approximately a maximum of two sides of A4. Put emphasis on your achievements and strengths and make sure you portray a positive and clear impression.
What to include in a great CV
Full personal details, including your full name, address, contactable phone number, your personal email address and possibly your social media.
Your personal profile. This is a chance to sell yourself, so mention all of your qualities and make sure you tailor them towards the position you are applying for.
Your career history (always start with the most recent job), including dates, period of work and location. Remember to indicate if it was temporary, permanent or voluntary work.
Skills and experiences that you have gained from previous employment and which are relevant to the job you are applying for.
Training and qualifications, including on the job training. Make sure you start with the most recent ones.
Skills and interests if they are relevant to the job you are applying for.
Any extra information, for example reasons for a career change and gaps in your education or career history.
